ICMBio agents under threat; assailants declare support to Bolsonaro

Land invaders destroyed bridged to block joint operations carried by federal agents from Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio), civil and military police in the Jacunda National Forest in the state of Rondônia; an Ibama position in Amazon state was also invaded. The environmental agents report that they are receiving death threats. Some invaders believe they will be “legalized” by the elected government in 2019; when campaigning for the presidential election, Bolsonaro visited the Amazon state and promised to review conservation units in Rondônia.
