Bolsonaro praises “clean up” at Ibama
During a speech at traditional agribusiness trade fair in São Paulo (Agrishow), president Bolsonaro declared that he asked the Minister of the Environment to promote a “clean up” at Ibama and ICMBio, referring to the broad changes to the staff at the highest levels of those institutions in the previous weeks. Speaking to an audience of supporters, he once again attacked environmental inspections and licensing, defending that “the man from the land must be welcomed”. Trying not to hurt commercial relations with China, one of the largest importers of agricultural goods from Brazil, Bolsonaro said: “They say I am an enemy of China. But I am only an enemy to those who do things based on ideology. I do not want to get in the way of those who are producing”.
