Government cancels UN’s Climate Week in Brazil
After withdrawing Brazil’s candidacy to host COP 25, the Brazilian government cancelled Climate Week, the UNFCCC event that was scheduled to happen in Salvador, Bahia, between August 19th-23rd. Climate Week is one of the main preparatory events for governments working on the implementation of the goals of the Paris Agreement in the run up to the December conference of the parties. The move caused outrage among diplomats, civil society and mayors from different cities that wanted to use Climate Week to showcase their local solutions.
