Rondônia State House of Representatives shrinks conservation units
The State of Rondônia House of Representatives (ALE-RO) approved a Bill (PLC 080), which changes the limits of the Jaci-Paraná Extractive Reserve and the Guajará-Mirim State Park, reducing approximately 200 thousand hectares out of each of the two Conservation Units.
The proposal regularizes the invasion of land by land grabbers with no payment and “opens the way for the legalization of tens of thousands of hectares plundered and deforested for cattle farming”.
The project’s rapporteur is state deputy Jean Oliveira (MDB), investigated by the Federal Police precisely for attempted land grabbing in a conservation unit. Now, the project awaits an official sanction by the governor Coronel Marcos Rocha, a Bolsonaro’s ally.
